Snettisham - Attenuation Tank

Drainage Infrastructure Case Study – Snettisham (2026)

In March 2026, Wallace Groundworks successfully delivered a specialist drainage installation for a new residential development in Snettisham, working on behalf of valued client FP McCann.

The project involved the installation of an attenuation tank and wet well, designed to effectively manage surface water in an area characterised by heavy clay soil and challenging ground conditions. These systems play a critical role in controlling runoff, reducing flood risk, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

Due to the complexity of the ground, the site presented several challenges, requiring careful planning and experienced execution. Works also included the creation of a gravity connection to the existing drainage network, supporting the safe and controlled discharge of surface water into the River Snett Drain.

Attenuation systems such as these are essential for modern developments, providing temporary underground storage for stormwater during high-volume rainfall events and releasing it at a controlled rate to prevent overwhelming local infrastructure.

This project highlights Wallace Groundworks’ capability to deliver reliable, compliant drainage solutions in technically demanding environments while supporting sustainable development within local communities.
